DESCRIPTION
On February 7, 2024 Polk County was notified that they would receive an additional $50,000 from the State of Florida Emergencies Communications Trust Fund Account. The Emergency Communications Board has recognized the need for all counties to enhance their cybersecurity capabilities as they transition to next generation, IP-based 911 systems. These funds may only be utilized for enhancing cybersecurity at Florida 911 primary and secondary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in accordance with Florida Statutes 365.172 (10).
A budget amendment to transfer funding from Emergency 911 Reserves is necessary to appropriate the expense.
RECOMMENDATION
Request the Board approve transfer from reserves in the amount of ($50,000).
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available to be transferred from Emergency 911 Reserve Contingencies in the amount of $50,000.
