DESCRIPTION
On July 6, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners approved the award of Contract No. 2021-053 to Chinchor Electric, Inc. for the Standby Power Improvements Phase 2 NE2 and NW Project with a total price of $1,117,512.60 and a duration of 395 days.
Market conditions have resulted in increased actual costs and delayed generator equipment deliveries since Contract No. 2021-053 was originally approved. Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) has agreed to reimburse the increased costs based on the previously defined percent obligations. FDEM has submitted Modification No. 1 to Agreement No. H0164 increasing the reimbursable amount for the collection of NE2 lift stations. Modification No. 1 to Agreement No. H0165 for the NW lift stations remains outstanding. Once complete, separate consent Agenda requests will be submitted for Modification No. 1 to Agreement No. H0165 for the collection of NW lift stations as well as Change Order No. 2 to Construction Contract No. 2021-053. Polk County will expend the necessary funds for the standby power improvements and will seek reimbursement for 75% of the project cost after providing the requisite documentation to the FDEM in accordance with the above referenced agreement modifications.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Change Order No. 1 to Contract 2021-053 with Chinchor Electric, Inc. for the Standby Power Improvements Phase 2 NE2 and NW Project increasing the contract price by $84,570 and extending the contract by 90 days for a revised Substantial Completion Date of November 24, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is available in the Utilities five-year Community Investment Program in the Standby Power Improvements Phase 2 Project budget.
