DESCRIPTION
The Board has an agreement with Holland & Knight LLP to provide representation for Polk County in Washington, D.C. to identify and secure federal funding for pressing infrastructure needs on county projects. This is the 22nd year the firm has represented Polk County at the federal level.
Holland & Knight will be working with staff to identify the various projects and programs they feel the county would be most successful in securing funding. The plan is to visit with and discuss this year’s funding request with our Congressional Delegation in 2023.
Holland & Knight will offer legal and practical experience of broad range and will be a significant benefit to the county in developing a comprehensive project and financing strategy to obtain discretionary federal dollars. Holland & Knight will secure goal and project background meetings, prepare funding strategy, monitor appropriation activities, draft legislation and related support and work with Federal and State agencies to tailor and implement funding.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve the contract with Holland & Knight LLP for an amount not to exceed $108,000 with a monthly payment of $9,000 as Polk County’s Federal Funding Program for 2023.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the General County Administration Fund and the amount is the same as the current year contract.
