Accept Warranty Deed from the School Board of Polk County in conjunction with the Old Bartow/Lake Wales Road at CR 653 Intersection Improvement Project. (No fiscal impact)

DESCRIPTION
The County has a project to improve the intersection of Old Bartow/Lake Wales Road at County Road 653 (Rattlesnake Road). An alternative study performed by a consultant for the County recommended a roundabout concept to improvement traffic movements at the intersection based on existing traffic and proposed development in the area.
The County initially began design of the intersection improvement but discussions with the developer of a large-scale residential development located to the east of the intersection resulted in a proposal wherein the developer would design and construct the roundabout in coordination with the County. Design of the intersection and associated roadway improvements has been completed by the developer's engineer and reviewed by the County's engineering consultant. Based on the plans additional right-of-way is needed from the property located at the northwest corner of the intersection which is owned by the School Board of Polk County ("School Board") and is the site of a proposed new elementary school. The County contacted the School Board and requested the additional right-of-way needed for the project which is located at, or near, the southeast corner of the school site and the northwest corner of the intersection. The School Board agreed to the County's request and have executed a Warranty Deed for the right-of-way needed for the project as well as additional right-of-way along the frontage of the school site which will upgrade the existing right-of-way in order to meet current road classification standards in preparation for the proposed school development.
