DESCRIPTION

The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a local resident to consider lowering the speed limit on Halabrin Road. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered a Board of County Commissioners Agenda Item dated March 22, 1977, establishing a 45 M.P.H. speed limit for Halabrin Road. Halabrin Road is located in the Haines City area in S-25, T-27S, R-27E, and is classified as a Local Residential road.

Staff conducted traffic studies on Halabrin Road as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history.  Based on the research, it was determined that a posting of 40 M.P.H. is reasonable for the road.  To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limit.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zone for Halabrin Road. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $262.21.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funding is budgeted in the FY 21/22 Transportation Millage Fund.
