DESCRIPTION

The County has contracted with Lake Wales Care Center, Inc. providing services at the Lake Wales Free Clinic (LWFC). The contract with LWFC is effective October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2023. LWFC provides medical services including, but not limited to, primary care, specialty care, ancillary and diagnostic services to eligible low-income county residents.

The first amendment to the contract will increase annual funding from $140,190 to $170,046 and extend the contract for an additional two years taking the term of the contract to September 30, 2025. Funding is provided on a cost-based reimbursement for salaries and fringe, program direct services and operation expenses. The increase in funding to LWFC will allow them to extend their hours of operation and add available services including women’s health and use of MRI and Ultrasound machines.

This funding increase request was presented to and approved by the Citizen’s HealthCare Oversight Committee (COC) at the March 18, 2022 meeting.
