body

DESCRIPTION

The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a representative of the Aniston Homeowners Association to post speed limits within the subdivision. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered that Resolutions establishing speed limits for Gardner Drive, Polly Lane and Reding Way could not be located and may not exist.  Aniston is located in the Lakeland area in S-23, T-29S, R-24E, and its roads are classified as Local Residential.

Staff conducted traffic studies within the Aniston subdivision as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history.  Based on the research, it was determined that postings of 25 M.P.H. are reasonable for these roads.  To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Gardner Drive, Polly Lane and Reding Way. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $535.22.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funding is budgeted in the FY 21/22 Transportation Millage Fund.
