DESCRIPTION

The County has contracted with Talbot House Ministries of Lakeland, Inc. (Talbot House) as a Free Clinic community partner. The contract with Talbot House is effective October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2023.

The Free Clinics act as a diversion program that helps to decrease local emergency room overcrowding by providing a medical home for individuals that can best be served in a primary care setting. Medical services include, but are not limited to, primary care, specialty care, ancillary and diagnostic services, and pharmacy services to eligible low-income county residents. Talbot House also has a dental program.

The first amendment allowed for a one-time reallocation of funding within their budget to reimburse the purchase of capital expenditures for Talbot House’s dental program. The second amendment will extend the contract for an additional two years taking the term of the contract to September 30, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve the second amendment to the contract with Talbot House Ministries of Lakeland, Inc. to provide primary and specialty care services to eligible low-income county residents.
