DESCRIPTION

The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a law enforcement officer to consider lowering the speed limit on Holly Hill Road. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered a Resolution dated August 7, 1990, establishing a 40 M.P.H. speed limit for Holly Hill Road.    Holly Hill Road is located in the Haines City area in S-5, T-27S, R-27E, and is classified as a Rural Minor Collector road.

Staff conducted traffic studies on Holly Hill Road as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history.  Based on the research, it was determined that a posting of 35 M.P.H. is reasonable for the road.  To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limit.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zone for Holly Hill Road. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $262.21.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funding is budgeted in the FY 21/22 Transportation Millage Fund.
