DESCRIPTION
From the start of FY23/24, Polk County Fire Rescue has focused on building a strong recruiting partnership with local and surrounding schools to excite students to become apart of the Polk County Fire Rescue team. This hard work and dedication in recruiting is paying off with the decrease in vacancies from FY22/23. Now with the decreased vacancies, Polk County Fire Rescue is requesting the approval of the 12 positions for the 2 new ambulances funded from the EMS Millage fund approved in the adopted FY23/24 budget. The 12 positions include 6 Firefighter/Paramedics and 6 Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians needed to fully staff these 2 new ambulances. The estimated recurring cost for the 12 additional positions is $1,103,528. The amount of $1,103,528 includes salary and benefits. Currently Polk County Fire Rescue has 709 positions approved. This will increase the total number of positions to 721 approved positions.
