DESCRIPTION
The County has received a petition from Gerardo Torres Moralez and Maria Carrizales-Torres, to vacate a portion of platted, unopened, and unmaintained right-of-way (alley) lying west of Lots 3 through 7, and lying east of Lots 18 through 22, all of Block 28, as shown on the map of the Townsite of West Frostproof, recorded in Plat Book 9, Page 22, Public Records of Polk County, Florida. The subject right-of-way lies in Section 02, Township 32 South, Range 27 East.

The map of the Townsite of West Frostproof, filed in 1925, depicts various rights-of-way throughout the plat which are presumed to be public. The petitioners own a parcel of land, consisting of the aforementioned lots, that is bisected by the right-of-way (alley). County staff contacted the adjacent property owners and received no objections. Vacating the right-of-way will remove the public's interest in the subject area and allow the petitioner, and adjacent property owners within the subject platted Block, to utilize their respective properties more fully with the removal of the public hold.

Duke Energy, Florida Public Utilities, and Frontier Communications have no objections to the proposed vac...
