DESCRIPTION
Carl Boozer Road is a County maintained road, classified as a local residential roadway, running from Power Line Road eastward to a dead end which is located approximately 670-feet east of Uncle Pete Drive. Baker Dairy Road is a County maintained road, classified as a rural minor collector roadway, running from Thirtieth Street eastward to a dead end which is located approximately 2-miles east of Power Line Road. That portion of Carl Boozer Road from Power Line Road to a point approximately one-half mile east thereof and that portion of Baker Dairy Road from Power Line Road to a point approximately 270-feet east of Bice Grove Road lie within and/or adjacent to the municipal limits of the City of Haines City ("City") and both road portions are proposed to be transferred to the city in conjunction with proposed development adjacent to the roadways.
Florida Statutes allow for the transfer of public roads between jurisdictions by mutual agreement of the affected governments and a conveyance of the associated rights-of-way by deed. The City has reviewed and approved, at its meeting held June 6, 2024, Agreements for Transfer of Public Roads for the transfer of the subject road portions and has agreed to accept County Deeds for the associated rights-of-way. Approving said Agreements and authorizing the County Deeds to the City for the associated rights-of-way will transfer ownership of the subject road portions and will remove those portions from the County's Road inventory thereby allowing the County to cease maintenance and future liability responsibilities associated with them.
