Approve CSA No. 23-63-01 with Madrid Engineering Group, Inc. (Consultant) for Geotechnical Engineering Services related to resurfacing under Pavement Management ($30,880.00 one-time expense).
body
DESCRIPTION
On August 25, 2023, the Couty Manager approved CSA No. 18-036-05 with the Consultant to provide professional engineering services including geotechnical exploration and evaluation of existing roadways in the Lake Wales area, specifically on Old Bartow Road, Timberlane Road, and Canal Road at a cost not-to-exceed $39,530.00.
During the exploration and evaluation phase it was determined that the settlement occurring on Old Bartow Road was the result of an underlying sinkhole. As a result of these findings the Consultant performed additional borings in the vicinity of the settlement to define the limits of the sinkhole and prepared the necessary stabilization plan for implementation by Polk County. Therefore, an amendment to the Scope of Services was necessary to allow the Consultant to perform those additional geotechnical engineering services.
After performing the additional borings in the vicinity and preparing the stabilization plan for implementation by Polk County, the Consultant prepared an estimate for the sinkhole stabilization. Therefore, a new CSA under the new master agreement is required to allow the Consultant to provide sinkhole stabilization monitoring services and assist with construction bid preparation and bidder selection.
The Consultant will provide these services at a not-to-exceed fee of $30,880.00.
