DESCRIPTION
On November 22, 2022, the Board approved CSA 2022-094-01 in the amount of $361,659.28 with the Consultant to provide final engineering design services for the Spirit Lake Road Roundabout Project. The scope of work for this project is to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Spirit Lake Road @ Sheffield Road @ Old Bartow/Eagle Lake Road (east). In addition, Old Bartow/Eagle Lake Road (west) will be re-aligned to connect to Sheffield Road instead of Spirit Lake Road. The Consultant has completed the design of the new roundabout, and the project is transitioning into the right-of-way acquisition phase.
During the design phase, at the request of county staff the Consultant performed certain tasks that were not envisioned in the original scope of services. One of the tasks included the re-design of a stormwater retention pond to make it more compact and more amenable to the School Board, who are donating some of the acreage required for this project. The other task is to design the re-alignment of a County owned ITS cable that is connected to the County Traffic Operations building at the Roads & Drainage complex. The ITS cable is in conflict with the proposed roundabout and will have to be adjusted during construction. In addition, post-design services are being added to the scope of work for the Consultant. The typical post-design services to be provided are described in detail in Exhibit A.
The additional professional services will increase the not-to-exceed fee for CSA 2022-094-01 by $93,232.94 resulting in a new total amount of $454,892.22.
