Lake Hancock Trails Master Plan Map/Update
body
DESCRIPTION
The 2018 Parks, Recreation and Preserves Master Plan documented the public desire for expanded trails in Polk County. In addition to providing corridors for recreation, a connected network of trails provides safe and comfortable active transportation route options. Building off the success of the existing Fort Fraser Trail, Panther Point Trail, Circle B Bar Reserve trails, and Marshall Hampton Reserve trails, the Lake Hancock Trails Master Plan will establish Polk County’s vision and details of a network of trails around Lake Hancock and connecting to the surrounding areas.
This planning study has focused on developing trail alignment opportunities for eight identified corridors, and screening each for the desirability and feasibility of establishing a trail facility. The Master Plan will present implementation strategies for each of the resulting feasible trail segments and design guidance to maximize the investment and ensure the trails will serve as broad community assets. This presentation provides a status update on development of the plan, an overview of the feasible trail projects, and a preview of the materials that will be shared at the public meeting scheduled for 4:30-6pm at the Polk Nature Discovery Center at Circle B Bar Reserve.
