Maintenance agreement with the City of Lake Alfred for a roundabout on Lake Lowery Road

DESCRIPTION
This is a request to enter into a maintenance agreement with the City of Lake Alfred for the maintenance of a proposed roundabout on Lake Lowery Road. The City of Lake Alfred and Developer (BF KL Lowery Hills, LLC) are actively engaged in a residential development, known as Lowery Hills, that is located within city limits and will have direct access to Lake Lowery Road. Lake Lowery Road is an urban collector roadway that is currently maintained by Unincorporated Polk County.
While the proposed roundabout is not a requirement of the County’s access review process, it is a desire of both the Developer and City of Lake Alfred to construct the roundabout in the County’s right-of-way. As a result, the City has agreed to maintain the roundabout area and associated infrastructure (such as asphalt, paving, curbing, striping, landscaping, irrigation, etc.…) pending County approval of the maintenance agreement.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the maintenance agreement with the City of Lake Alfred for the proposed roundabout on Lake Lowery Road.
