body

DESCRIPTION

On December 3, 2024, the Board approved Contract No. 2024-092 with the Contractor in the amount of $1,805,339.00 to construct the Fairway Avenue Drainage Improvement Project.  The goal of the Project is to resolve localized flooding that impacts Fairway Avenue, Lakeview Drive, and East Lake Parker Drive in the Combee Area of unincorporated Polk County.  Construction of the Project is expected to begin next month and is being funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.

The limits of the Project are located within the sanitary sewer service area of the City of Lakeland.  During the design phase of the Project, it was determined the County’s project would have several unavoidable conflicts with City sanitary sewer lines located in County right-of-way.

The City and County have agreed to the attached JPA to include the relocation of the City sewer lines within the County’s construction contract for the Project.  The City within 30-days following the execution of the JPA will furnish the County an advance deposit in the amount of $476,525.00 plus $50,000 in contingency funds.  The County will utilize the advanced deposit for payment to the Contractor for the relocation of the City’s sewer lines under Contract No. 2024-092.

RECOMMENDATION

Request the Board approve the Joint Project Agreement and Change Order No. 1 to Contact No. 2024-092 with the Contractor in the amount of $526,525.00 resulting in a new total contract amount of $2,331,864.00

FISCAL IMPACT
