Review/Approve Draft TPO Resolution 2025-01 Adopting FDOT Safety Performance Targets for the Polk TPO

Summary:
The Polk TPO has adopted a goal of safe and fatality-free travel conditions on Polk County roads. On a yearly basis, the TPO adopts FDOT’s established Safety Performance targets of zero fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads. When it comes to meeting these targets as measured over a five-year period, Polk’s place among Florida counties has remained relatively the same, except when it comes to the serious injury and fatality rate per 100 million VMT.
The Committee will also hear a presentation from Bike Walk Central Florida on the Best Foot Forward for pedestrian safety program, which is aimed at reducing serious pedestrian injuries and fatalities through education, engineering, enforcement, and evaluation.
Recommended Action:
Recommend approval of Draft TPO Resolution 2025-01.
