DESCRIPTION
The Parks and Natural Resources Division (PNR) has Musco sports lighting installed at most County lighted athletic fields as well as select Polk County School Board athletic fields supported by PNR. The Musco product allows for remote access to control the lights, immediate notification of light malfunctions or bulb replacements, spill protection to prevent lights from shining in neighboring houses, and the bulbs maintain their brightness throughout the life of the bulb which makes it an efficient and effective lighting solution. Accordingly, these products have been standardized across County athletic facilities.
On December 17, 2019, the Board approved Agreement #19-055 with Musco Sports Lighting through Sole Source 20-215, to provide lighting, warranty, maintenance and repair services for a period of five years with the option to extend for an additional five years. This amendment No. 1, extends the agreement for the additional five years.
The current FY25 PNR budget includes installing Musco lighting at the following parks for an estimated $2.9 million.
Highland City Park - 5 baseball fields
Hunt Fountain Park - 2 soccer fields
Loyce Harpe Park - 8 baseball and 2 soccer fields
Polk City Park - 4 baseball fields

FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is available in the Parks and Natural Resources operating budget.
