DESCRIPTION
Purpose -To make recommendations about the marketing of Polk County as a destination and the allocation of Tourism tax dollars to the BoCC.
Creating Authority - Ordinance 86-27, enacted September 30, 1986.
Appointments - Nine members appointed by the BoCC all of whom must reside in Polk County. Chairperson to be a member of the BoCC, two elected municipal officials, three owner/operators of motels, hotels or other tourist accommodations located in Polk County. Three people involved in the tourism industry who are not owner/operators of motels, hotels, or other tourist accommodations.
Term Limits - Four years (limited to three consecutive terms)
Reason for appointment - Appoint Chad McLeod (City of Lakeland elected official) as a member of the Tourist Development Council effective February 27, 2025.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve the initial appointment of Chad McLeod (City of Lakeland elected official) to the Tourist Development Council for a four-year term beginning February 27, 2025.
