DESCRIPTION
The County has a project to construct a new 2-lane roadway, being an extension of the north/south portion of Holly Hill Road from the point were it turns to the west, northward to Florida Development Road along with improvements to Florida Development Road from the Holly Hill Road connection to US Highway 27 (the “Project”). The County hired an engineering consultant to evaluate and design the Project and a recommended alignment has been established in conjunction with the design.
The preferred alignment was selected after the consultant evaluated viable alternatives to identify the most feasible and cost-effective alternative. After considering the alternatives, environmental factors, costs, long range planning, and safety consideration, the recommended alignment is a best fit alternative which utilizes both sides of the existing road corridor for Florida Development Road and primarily utilizes existing rights-of-way for the extension of Holly Hill Road all to minimize impacts to the greatest extent possible.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the resolution approving the recommended alignment for the Holly Hill Road/Florida Development Road Project.
