DESCRIPTION

The County has a project to construct a new 2-lane roadway known as North Ridge Trail between Waverly Barn Road and Deen Still Road along with improvements to both Waverly Barn Road and Deen Still Road from the respective North Ridge Trail connections to US Highway 27 (the “Project”).  The County hired an engineering consultant to evaluate and design the Project and a recommended alignment has been established in conjunction with the design.

The preferred alignment was selected after the consultant evaluated viable alternatives to identify the most feasible and cost-effective alternative.  After considering the alternatives, environmental factors, costs, long range planning, and safety consideration, the recommended alignment is a best fit alternative which utilizes both side of the existing road corridors for Deen Still Road and Waverly Barn Road and avoids commercial development to the east, and environmentally sensitive areas to the west, of the North Ridge Trail corridor all to minimize impacts to the greatest extent possible.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the resolution approving the recommended alignment for the Deen Still/North Ridge Trail/Waverly Barn Road Project.

FISCAL IMPACT

No fiscal impact.
