DESCRIPTION
East Central Park is a 45-acre regional park located in Dundee, Florida. The land was purchased in 1994 and the park officially opened in 2000. As Dundee and East Polk County has grown, East Central Park has become a key recreational facility serving residents.
Over the last 25 years Parks and Recreation has developed a diverse set of amenities within the park to include a walking/jogging trail with 14 fitness stations, four baseball fields, three multi-purpose fields, multiple picnic shelters, basketball, racquetball, volleyball, and tennis courts. Within the last year, the two tennis and basketball courts have been improved with the installation court tile surfacing.
This agreement will provide design, permitting, geotechnical services, surveying and construction administration services for the conversion of the three multi-purpose fields and the senior baseball field to artificial turf. Renovating the fields to artificial turf will significantly improve field durability, increase play time, and reduce maintenance costs associated with mowing, irrigation, and re-sodding.
Funds are available in the Parks Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project No. 3500074 / Athletic Fields Artificial Turf for design services and construction.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve CSA 22-061-04 with Chastain Skillman Inc. for professional engineering services for East Central Park in Dundee, Florida in the amount of ($241,547.15).
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in FY 25/26 East Park Impact Fee District Fund.
