DESCRIPTION
The Roads and Drainage Division requested Procurement solicit bids from qualified contractors who were interested in the construction of a signalized intersection at Kathleen Road and Deeson Road. The project is located approximately four (4) miles north of the Interstate 4 (I-4) and Kathleen Road intersection.
The work includes converting the existing stop-controlled intersection into a signalized intersection, extending the existing left-turn lane on Kathleen Road, extending the left-turn lane on the Deeson Road approach, and constructing a new southbound right-turn lane on Kathleen Road. These improvements will enhance the level of service at this intersection by allowing the vehicles on Deeson Road with safer and more efficient access to Kathleen Road.
Bid 26-225, Kathleen Road at Deeson Road Signal project was issued, and two contractors submitted a bid.

A recommendation of award was issued to Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC and no protests were received. Since the bid and associated contract was issued prior to Resolution 2026-052, approved on June 16, 2026, this contract is in accordance with Resolution No. 13-066, $102,422.00 was added to the contract for allowance work for a total contract amount of $2,150,875.08. The contract time for this project is 155 days to final completion. Allowance time for the project is 23 days.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve a construction contract with Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC in the amount of $2,150,875.08 for Bid 26-225, Kathleen Road at Deeson Road Signal Project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is budgeted and available in the Transportation Trust Fund.
