DESCRIPTION

Traviss Technical College’s (Traviss) Dental Assisting Program provides free dental services to eligible low-income county residents. Dental services include diagnostic and preventative services as well as basic dental restorations. The Dental Assisting Program is open during the school term September to June each year with dental services provided from January to May.

The County has contracted with the School Board of Polk County for Traviss effective October 1, 2020. The first amendment to the contract increased funding in fiscal year 22/23 from $111,000 to $136,000 (an additional $25,000) to allow for reimbursement of the purchase of capital expenditures. The first amendment also extended the contract for an additional two years taking the term of the contract to September 30, 2025 at the annual reimbursement of $111,000.

This second amendment will be effective October 1, 2025 and will extend the term of the contract with automatic one-year renewal terms. In fiscal year 25/26, funding will be $165,500 allowing for $43,500 for the purchase of capital expenditures. In fiscal year 26/27 and subsequent years, the annual funding amount will be $122,000. Funding is provided on a cost-based reimbursement for salaries and fringe, program direct services and operation expenses.

This funding request was presented to and approved by the Citizen’s HealthCare Oversight Committee.
