DESCRIPTION
On June 17, 2025, the Board approved an agreement with The Lunz Group for architectural/engineering services for design, permitting, bidding and construction administration for the Sheriff’s Office - Polk County Joint-Use Warehouse & Facilities Management Administration Building, which includes 1) an 80,000 square foot warehouse for property and evidence storage that includes 15,000 square foot of office space for the Sheriff’s office, 2) a 10,000 square foot emergency supply storage to support shelters or any other storm related need, and 3) a 10,000 square foot for the Facilities Management administration office in the amount of $1,117,825.00.
During design, multiple site visits were conducted at other property and evidence locations, and it was determined through lessons learned from those organizations that the work areas and storage would need to be increased to provide separate sensitive evidence storage, which requires higher demands of ventilation in the HVAC system. These changes have increased the building size from 80,000 square feet to 119,820 square feet to incorporate long term security and storage needs. As a result, the original estimated construction cost of $15,000,000.00 has increased by $14,978,532.00 bringing the total construction cost to $29,978,532.00.
This Amendment No. 1 includes the additional design needed for the larger facility in the amount of $791,933.00, increasing the total agreement amount to $1,909,758.00.
The services are estimated to be completed within 380 days, yet the agreement will stay in place through completion of the construction.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Agreement 2025-035 Amendment No. 1 with The Lunz Group, LLC, for architectural & engineering services for the Sheriff’s Office - Polk County Joint-Use Warehouse & Facilities Management Administration Building in the amount of $791,933.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the General Capital Improvement Fund.
