title

body

DESCRIPTION

Lake Mattie Boat Landing Road is on the County’s Road Inventory classified as a local residential roadway from Lake Mattie Road northward approximately four tenths of a mile to a dead-end at Lake Mattie.  The road lies within and/or adjacent to the municipal limits of the City of Auburndale (“City”) and previously provided access to a County maintained boat ramp on Lake Mattie which was discontinued many years ago due to issues with illicit activities.  The City owns large tracts of land adjacent to the west of the roadway on which it has plans to construct a new City park.  All of Lake Mattie Boat Landing Road is proposed to be transferred to the City in conjunction with the planned City park, as well as proposed development, adjacent to the roadway.

Florida Statutes allow for the transfer of public roads between jurisdictions by mutual agreement of the affected governments and a conveyance of the associated right-of-way by deed.  The City has reviewed and approved, at its meeting held January 6, 2025, an Agreement for Transfer of Public Road for the transfer of the roadway and has agreed to accept the County Deed for the associated right-of-way.  Approving said Agreement and authorizing the County Deed to the City for the associated right-of-way will transfer ownership of the subject road and will remove the roadway from the County’s Road inventory thereby allowing the County to cease maintenance and future liability responsibilities associated with it.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve the aforementioned Agreement for Transfer of Public Road and authorize the County Deed to the City for the right-of-way associated therewith.

FISCAL IMPACT

No fiscal impact.
