DESCRIPTION
On January 6,2026, the Board entered into an agreement with Rodda Construction, Inc. to provide CMAR services for the expansion and renovation of the District 10 Medical Examiner’s Office, serving Polk, Hardee, and Highlands Counties, which included preconstruction services in the amount of $43,118.75. The facility is located at 1201 Jim Keene Blvd., Winter Haven, FL. This project is comprised of constructing an expansion consisting of 4,900 GSF office building, an 8,400 GSF autopsy building, and all associated renovation of existing space, site development and supporting infrastructure necessary to meet current and future operational requirements.
The preconstruction services are now complete, and Facilities Management is requesting Board approval for the GMP Addendum to construct the project in the amount of $13,342,830.00. In accordance with Resolution 2026-052, $500,000.00 is included in the GMP total for allowance work.
The total contract time for construction is 720 calendar days. In accordance with Resolution 13-066, 108 calendar days have been added for allowance time.
Additional funding for this project was provided by Hardee County ($500,000), Highlands County ($1,500,000) and the State of Florida ($3,000,000).
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) Agreement 2026-005, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Addendum with Rodda Construction, Inc., for the expansion and renovation of the Medical Examiner’s Office in the amount of $13,342,830.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $2,400,000.00 are available in the Special Revenue Grant fund and the remaining $10,942,830.00 are available in the General Capital Improvement Fund.
