DESCRIPTION
The Roads and Drainage Division requested that Procurement solicit bids from qualified contractors for the roadway construction including drainage and pedestrian features, signing and pavement markings, traffic signal installation, and maintenance of traffic. The project consists of the County Road 557 widening in Lake Alfred, Florida. The limits of construction begin at W. Alfred St. and extends 5.7 miles to the north and ends south of the CR 557 and I-4 interchange.
This project is intended to improve capacity along the existing roadway, provide accommodation for pedestrians and bicyclists, and improve intersection safety and operations. The project is also adding curb and gutter and stormwater collection system to improve drainage conditions.
Bid 26-112, County Road 557 Widening project was issued, and five contractors submitted a bid.

A recommendation of award was issued to Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc. and no protests were received. In accordance with Resolution No. 2026-052, $250,000.00 was added to the contract for allowance work and $150,000 was added to accelerate the additional improvements relative to the traffic signal at the intersection CR 557 and Old Lake Alfred Road, for a total contract amount of $90,062,272.91. The contract time for this project is 1,190 days to final completion. Allowance time for the project is 178 days.
This project is partially funded through a state funded County Incentive Grant Program (CIGP) through the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The FDOT has reviewed the documents and approves the County to enter into a construction contract with the lowest responsive bidder Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve a construction contract with Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $90,062,272.91 for Bid 26-112, County Road 557 Widening.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is budgeted in Impact Fee Zone A within the Roads and Drainage 5-year CIP.
