Approve Amendment #2 to Agreement 2024-030 with RDK Assets, Inc. dba RDK Truck Sales (RDK) for waste collection truck lease. ($140,000.00 estimated expense)

DESCRIPTION
On March 5, 2024, the Board approved an agreement with RDK to lease 9 trucks to perform waste collection services for 13,000 residents in the southern parts of the county. The agreement also allows for the ability to lease additional trucks with Board approval.
On January 21, 2025, the Board approved Amendment No. 1 with RDK to lease 3 additional trucks for staff to run the County’s transfer station located at the North Central Landfill (NCLF), 3131 K-Ville Road, Auburndale, FL 33823. The transfer station is available for use by Polk County residents to dispose of household waste. This area is intended for customers to hand offload refuse in a safe environment separate from heavy commercial equipment and traffic. The County currently receives approximately 200 tons per day at the transfer station. Solid Waste staff transfer the solid waste from the transfer station to North Central Landfill.
The Board approved a Customer Convenience Center Pilot Project in the northeast portion of the county in an effort to alleviate illegal dumping and promote clean communities. To accomplish this, Solid Waste will need to transport the waste from the Northeast Landfill (NELF), located at 4001 Bannon Island Road, Haines City, FL 33844 back to the NCLF
In order to provide these services, Solid Waste needs to lease 1 roll off truck from RDK. The attached Amendment #2 provides for leasing the truck needed for a 13-month period. The 13-month cost for this lease is $130,000.00 with an estimated maintenance cost of $10,000.00.
The attached Amendment #2 to the Agreement provides for the lease of the 1 roll off truck starting May 18, 2026, which is needed for the Solid Waste Division to provide transfer station services in house.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board Approve Amendment #2 to Agreement 2024-030 with RDK Assets, Inc. dba RDK Truck Sales (RDK) for waste collection truck lease in the amount of $140,000.00
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Solid Waste Fund.
