DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Management Division requested Procurement to solicit bids from qualified contractors who were interested in the construction of a new Sheriff’s District Station at 9530 Marigold Avenue, Poinciana, FL. This project will consist of a 21,561 square foot building to contain community room, office spaces, interview rooms, holding cells, sallyport, and fleet maintenance. Due to suburban population sprawl, local builders expect to build 15,000+ plus homes in the short term. Currently, it takes citizens in Poinciana up to 45 minutes to drive to the nearest law enforcement district station establishing the high need for a facility in this area.
Bid 24-133, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Ridge District Station at Poinciana was issued, and five contractors submitted a bid.

A recommendation of award was issued to Strickland Construction, Inc., and no protests were received. In accordance with Resolution No. 13-066, $250,000.00 was added to the contract for allowance work for a total contract amount of $10,543,327.00. The contract time for this project is 397 days. Allowance time for the project is 59 days.
This project is partially funded through the American Rescue Plan through the United States Department of Treasury.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve 1) construction contract with Strickland Construction, Inc. for $10,543,327.00 for Bid 24-133, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Ridge District Station at Poinciana and 2) CIP amendment and budget transfer from General Capital Improvement Fund Reserves in the amount of $2,310,849.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $8,232,478.00 are available in the ARP Lost Revenue Fund for this project. The additional $2,310,849.00 will be transferred from the General Capital Improvement Fund Reserves to the project budget in FY 23/24. During the FY 24/25 budget process the General Capital Improvement Fund Reserves will be replenished from the General Fund.
