DESCRIPTION
The Parks and Natural Resources Division requested Procurement to solicit bids from qualified contractors to construct, form, and pour a new regulation basketball court and sidewalk at the Wabash Park located at 1230 Southern Avenue, Lakeland, FL, 33815.
Wabash Park is located west of Lakeland and services the surrounding communities. The site includes the Wabash Resource Center and two acres of outdoor space which currently has a playground for younger children. The addition of a basketball court and new sidewalks will expand the outdoor recreational experiences. New sidewalks will enhance safety and provide a short walking trail for additional exercise opportunities.
Bid 26-050, Wabash Resource Center Basketball Court and Sidewalk was issued, and five contractors submitted bids.

A recommendation of award was issued to Central Concrete Products, Inc. and no protests were received. In accordance with Resolution No. 13-066, $22,951.00 was added to the contract for allowance work for a total contract amount of $481,981.00. The contract time for this project is 150 days for final completion. Allowance time for the project is 23 days.
This project is funded through a Community Development Block Grant and included in the Parks and Natural Resources adopted Community Investment Program (CIP #3500066).
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve construction contract with Central Concrete Products Inc. for the Wabash Park Basketball Court and Sidewalk project in the amount of $481,981.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in the 5-year Parks and Natural Resources CIP within the Special Revenue Community Development Block Grant Fund.
