DESCRIPTION
The Starling Road Sidewalk Project is in the finalized list of public sidewalk project requests prioritized by the Polk County Sidewalk Advisory Committee for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. Funding for this Project was approved at the Budget Public Hearing of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners for FY 24/25.
The Starling Road Sidewalk Project, from Eloise Loop Road to Gray Road, is in the Eagle Lake area, in unincorporated Polk County.
On June 3, 2025, the Board approved CSA 22-090-03 that authorized the Consultant to evaluate and design a new sidewalk along Starling Road. The CSA was for a not-to-exceed amount of $99,095.00.
After coordination with impacted residents, the Roads and Drainage Division requested an extension of the proposed sidewalk along Eagle Lake Loop Road. The sidewalk will connect to the existing sidewalk east of N 12th Street and the previously designed sidewalk along Starling Road. The design will include sidewalk, curb and gutter, curb ramps for the crossing at the Starling Road intersection, reconstruction of pavement to accommodate proposed drainage design, and signing and pavement markings for the roadway and pedestrian crossing. The roadway and temporary traffic control plans will be updated to reflect the sidewalk extension. The Consultant has requested additional funds in the amount of $25,860 to address the proposed changes. This will bring the total project to a not-to-exceed cost of $124,955.00.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Modification No. 1 to CSA No. 22-090-03.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available and budgeted in the Transportation Millage Fund.
