DESCRIPTION
The Roads and Drainage Division requested Procurement to solicit bids from qualified contractors who were interested in constructing intersection improvements at U.S. Highway 27 at Tierra Del Sol Blvd. in northeast Polk County. The work primarily consists of installing a new traffic signal and a new right turn lane onto Central Grove Road.
Bid 24-697, US 27 at Tierra Del Sol Intersection Improvement was issued, and one contractor submitted a bid. The bid was submitted by Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.

A recommendation of award was issued to Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC, and no protests were received. The County negotiated a $22,000.00 reduction in price to $2,177,930.36 as only one bid was received. This reduction was negotiated on junction boxes and concrete poles (one at each corner) the signal cable is attached to. In accordance with Resolution No. 13-066, $108,896.00 was added to the contract for allowance work for a total contract amount of $2,286,826.36. The contract time for this project is 270 days to final completion. Allowance time for the project is 40 days.
