body
DESCRIPTION
Hunt Fountain Park is a fully developed 60+ acre park located in the north Lakeland area of the County. It was constructed in the late 1970’s and the population growth in the area has created a high demand for use of the athletic fields in the park. The youth soccer league in this facility has continued to grow.
The increase in league soccer participants, expanded seasons for this activity and poor drainage in the soccer field area have contributed to the deterioration of the existing four natural turf soccer fields. These factors have also made it difficult to provide the maintenance required which has resulted in an increase in complaints regarding the field conditions.
Converting the fields to artificial turf is an effective means to address the field issues. This project will allow expanded use of the fields by eliminating down time for maintenance and turf recovery, reduce maintenance and address some of the drainage issues in this area.
Funds are available in the Parks Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project No. 3500041 / Daughtery Road (Hunt Fountain) Improvement for design services and construction. This agreement will provide design, permitting and bidding services to prepare for a construction contract and construction administration during the construction phase of the project.
