DESCRIPTION
On July 20, 2021, the Board authorized staff to negotiate an agreement with Miller Construction Management, Inc. to provide construction manager at risk (CMAR) services for a maximum of four fire rescue stations. This proposed Agreement for the Board's approval is to provide CMAR services for the third station, Bradley Junction Fire Rescue Station.
On October 19, 2021, the Board approved the CMAR agreement for pre-construction services of the Nalcrest Fire Rescue Station; those services are currently on hold until a water plant is constructed near the site. On July 5, 2022, the Board approved the CMAR agreement for pre-construction services of the Watkins Road Fire Rescue Station; and on February 3, 2023, the Board approved GMP Addendum. Construction has been completed for Watkins Road Fire Rescue Station. The Board will approve CMAR agreement for pre-construction services for Bradley Junction Fire Rescue Station at the same time as Caloosa Lake Fire Rescue Station.
The CMAR's role includes:
1. Pre-construction phase services, which includes working with the design consultant, The Lunz Group, and county staff to provide value engineering suggestions, constructability reviews, management of pre-bid conferences with sub-contractors, bid solicitation services, along with management of pre-award meetings with sub-contractors. The fee will not exceed $28,556.77.
2. After pre-construction services are complete, the construction manager will present to the County a guaranteed maximum price to construct the Bradley Junction Fire Rescue Station. This additional cost will be brought back to the Board for approval as an amendment to their agreement before construction services begin.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve agreement with Miller Construction Management, Inc. for pre-construction services for the Bradley Junction Fire Rescue Station in the amount of $28,556.77.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in the General Capital Improvement Fund.
