Approve a behavioral health contract with Peace River Center for Personal Development, Inc. (PRC) for the provision of forensic specialists and navigation services not to exceed $700,000.

DESCRIPTION
To ensure support of timely competency case management and appropriate healthcare navigation services, PRC will provide the following effective October 1, 2024 - September 30, 2027.
Forensic Specialists will:
• Develop, coordinate, and implement tasks related to the success of individuals adjudicated as incompetent to proceed including but not limited to competency restoration training.
• Travel to appropriate locations to monitor client’s progress and legal status in jail and community.
• Collection of data for reporting purposes
• Assist with discharge planning from state hospitals with travel to and from
• Provide triage counseling and crisis intervention where needed.
Navigators will:
• Participate and facilitate community outreach events to identify community members who need connection to local behavioral health programs and services
• Utilize a needs assessment to identify and provide linkage to needed behavioral health services and supports and to community benefits and resources as appropriate for residents including, but not limited to, food, housing and transportation assistance
• Channel referrals to, and provide registration for, community behavioral health services
• Screen all potential clients for current health coverage. Assist those uninsured individuals with benefit applications. For those residents potentially eligible for PHP, assist with the application process including submission of supporting documentation.
This funding request was presented to and approved by the Citizen’s HealthCare Oversight Committee (COC).
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve the Contract with Peace River Center for Personal Development, Inc. for forensic specialist and navigation services as recommended by the Citizen’s Oversight Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available and budgeted in the Indigent Health Care Funds.
