DESCRIPTION

Polk County (County) and Florida Atlantic University (University) entered into Agreement #C-23- 022 on 12/21/2022, that creates a mechanism where the County and University can create and submit task orders that allows Polk County to utilize the University's vast knowledge and resources to implement watershed management and planning projects. The Agreement will expire on September 30, 2027, and the Task Orders expired December 31, 2024. This partnership is advantageous to the County to utilize the University's expertise in stormwater master planning, as has been recognized by the State of Florida.

The County has three grant award agreements with Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM), that recognize Florida Atlantic University as a partner to help achieve the desired goals of those projects. The three grants awarded are the same scope of work, just broken into three geographic sections of the County. Each scope is $150,000, total of the three scopes is $450,000, which the County will be reimbursed for by FDEM at the completion of the project.

Due to delayed reviews and request for additional information from FDEM, the County requested an extension to the FDEM grant agreement to May 31, 2025, this amendment will extend the FAU Task Orders until May 31, 2025. Which will allow for FAU to complete the scope of work, required to successfully fulfil the FDEM grant agreement.

The project was recommended for approval by Stormwater Technical Advisory Committee (STAG).
