DESCRIPTION
The construction of the Fort Fraser Trail Extension Project is complete, and the trail was opened to pedestrian traffic in December 2025. RK&K is the Engineer of Record for design, and they also provided post-design services. The post-design services included reviewing and approving shop drawings submitted by the contractor, answering questions from the contractor and providing clarifications, and making design adjustments to accommodate unforeseen field conditions. The number of man-hours originally estimated for post-design services turned out to be lower than what was actually required to complete the project due to a high number of design adjustments associated with unforeseen field conditions. RK&K is requesting for an increase in the not to exceed fee to cover the additional man hours for post-design services. County staff have reviewed the request for fee increase and are in agreement that it is justified.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Modification No. 6 to CSA 2017-058-03 with RK&K, LLP for the Fort Fraser Trail Extension Project. ($9,996.00 one-time expense) for a new total not to exceed fee of $671,443.08.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in the Transportation Millage Fund.
