DESCRIPTION
On February 18, 2025, the Board of County Commissioners approved CSA No. 22-95-04 with the Consultant to provide professional engineering services for intersection improvements to the intersection of Fitzgerald Road at State Road 37 to add more capacity to the traffic that travels westbound from Fitzgerald Road. The CSA provides professional engineering services to perform a traffic study, roadway design, utility coordination, subsurface utility exploration (SUE), permitting, sidewalk and drainage design and plan preparation at a total not-to-exceed fee of $165,894.70.

On May 23 2025, the County Manager approved modification No. 1 to CSA No. 22-95-04. Modification No. 1 provided the consultant additional funding to obtain additional permitting required by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to obtain their approval for the project. Modification No. 1 increased the contract amount by $27,392.00 as outlined in exhibit "A" for an overall contract amount of $193,286.70.

After several discussions between FDOT, Polk County and the Consultant, it was determined that a new mast arm would be needed in the northwest corner of the intersection to facilitate the changes to the intersection. Modification No. 2 provides the consultant with additional funding to perform structural analysis, geotechnical field investigations and analysis, subsurface utility exploration (SUE) and design changes to add a new mast arm for the intersection, as well as adds some funds for the consultant to perform post-design work while the project is under construction.

Modification No. 2 will increase the contract amount by $59,318.50 as outlined in Exhibit "A" for an overall contract amount of $252,605.20.
