SUBJECT
title
Adopt a Resolution Setting Speed Limits on Live Oak Drive, Oak Preserve Drive and Quercus Loop within the Oak Preserve Subdivision near Winter Haven. ($317.21 one-time expense)
body
DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a representative of the Oak Preserve subdivision to lower the speed limits within the subdivision. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered that, although the subdivision roads are currently posted at 25 M.P.H., a Resolution establishing speed limits for the subdivision roads could not be located and may not exist. Oak Preserve is located in the Winter Haven area in S-2, T-29S, R-25E, and its roads are classified as Local Residential roads.
Staff conducted traffic studies within Oak Preserve, as outlined in Section 316.189 of the Florida Statutes, and investigated the five-year crash history. It was subsequently determined that postings of 20 M.P.H. are reasonable for these roads. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Live Oak Drive, Oak Preserve Drive, and Quercus Loop. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $317.21.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
