DESCRIPTION
The Community Health Care Section (formerly Indigent Health Care) wishes to utilize a piggyback agreement from the Hamilton County Florida Board of County Commissioners with Lifeline Mobile, Inc. for the purchase of a 2025 Freightliner M2-106 model mobile medical unit with a cab and chassis. The County's current mobile medical unit is a 2007 Sterling Acterra with over 104,000 miles and consistently undergoes repair multiple times due to issues with roof leaks and engine parts to be replaced. Parts for the current mobile unit are no longer available or if available, are more expensive. In 2023 alone, the unit was down for repairs on 7 occasions with an average of 20 days of downtime per instance.
The mobile medical unit provides registered nurse services such as health screenings, vaccinations, and education to Polk County residents that do not have reasonable access to health care services. Outreach team members can enroll residents into the Polk HealthCare Plan and provide referral information as needed.
A new mobile medical unit would improve patient flow and confidentiality, along with medical grade equipment necessary for expanded offerings. Other reasons include:
? Bathroom (current unit does not have a bathroom)
? Wheelchair accessible; Barrier free exam furnishings (current unit is not wheelchair accessible)
? Two-year, unlimited mile warranty (with the exception of the onboard 20 kw diesel generator that provides two years or 1,000 hours, whichever occurs first)
The purchase price of the mobile medical unit is $593,416.00. The County will pay for the unit in three equal payments of the following:
(i) one-third of the purchase price on the effective date of the time the contract for purchase of mobile medical unit is signed;
(ii) one-third of the purchase price payable twelve month...
