DESCRIPTION
In September 2022, the Board supported efforts to secure an award of a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant. Polk County applied for funds to prepare a Vision Zero Action Plan and were awarded $720,000 in FY 2022 SS4A funds.
In January 2023, Polk County working with the Polk TPO, received $720,000 in federal SS4A grant funds. As part of the grant application, Polk County agreed to provide $200,000 as a local match, and to provide $80,000 of in-kind services. The Resolution acknowledges the receipt of the grant funds and directs Polk County to enter into the Grant Agreement. Total grant agreement will be for $1,000,000. Matching funds are being provided by the Transportation Millage Fund.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt a Resolution, which acknowledges receipt of the grant funds for the Polk County FL Vision: Safer Roads FL grant, directs the County to enter into the Grant Agreement, and directs who can sign documents; and to adopt a budget resolution to amend the FY 23/24 budget.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this grant agreement includes $720,000 federal grant funds, a $200,000 local cash match from the Transportation Millage Fund, and $80,000 in in-kind services. Funds will be appropriated upon the approval of the budget resolution to amend the FY 23/24 budget.
