DESCRIPTION
In 2018, Polk County submitted a grant application to the FDOT under the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program for Inwood Elementary School. The original grant request totaled $565,246 and included $145,539.00 for design, $360,264.00 for construction, and $59,443 for CEI. FDOT approved the grant for the construction amount only of $360,264, the County was responsible for the additional cost of $204,982 for design and CEI.
The Roads and Drainage Division requested Procurement to solicit bids from qualified contractors for the Inwood Elementary School sidewalk improvement project.
Bid 24-011, Inwood Elementary School Project, was issued and three contractors submitted a bid.

An internal construction bid recommendation was approved to award based on low bid meeting qualifications. In accordance with Resolution No. 13-066, the maximum amount was added for allowance work in the amount of $43,558.03 and is included in the proposed contract award totaling $914,718.67.
The LAP Supplemental Agreement will be required for the FDOT to add (SU) funds in the amount of $554,455.00, to the already programmed (SR2T) funds of $360,264.00, bringing the new total for construction to $914,719.00. The additional funding was not anticipated to be received during the FY 23/24 budget process. The County will be responsible for any costs in excess of the State provided funds. Construction is to be completed by October 31, 2024, or a time extension will be required.
