DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a representative of the Seven Oaks Subdivision Homeowners Association to reduce the speed limits within the subdivision. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered Resolution 06-093, dated June 7, 2006, which set the speed limits for the two roads at 25 M.P.H. Seven Oaks Drive and Seven Oaks Street are located in the Mulberry area in S-27, T-29S, R-23E, and are classified as Local Residential roads.
Staff conducted traffic studies within the subdivision, as outlined in Section 316.189 of the Florida Statutes, and investigated the five-year crash history. It was subsequently determined that postings of 20 M.P.H. are reasonable for these roads. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Seven Oaks Drive and Seven Oaks Street. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $212.77.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the Transportation Millage Fund.
