DESCRIPTION
The Solid Waste Division has a history of performing applied research that has resulted in cost savings and innovations in leachate management practices, alternative waste management approaches, recycling, and customer service. A partnership with the Florida Polytechnic University Department of Environmental Engineering to provide technical research and development of conceptual to full-scale projects will provide the County the ability to acquire up-to-date information for comprehensive waste management systems, assess trends and forecast the financial impacts of future waste management strategies.
Agreement period of performance is April 7, 2026 through September 30, 2029 for a fixed price of $136,850.00. Payments to be processed in accordance with agreement payment schedule over the performance period.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Research Agreement between Polk County, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, and Florida Polytechnic University.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in the Solid Waste Division Operating Fund.
