DESCRIPTION

This is an applicant-initiated request for an LDC text amendment to Chapter 3, Conditional Uses, Section 303, Criteria for Conditional Uses for High Intensity Recreation to allow access via easement for firearms ranges. State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which was held on May 6, 2026, with a recommendation for approval by a 7:0 vote.

Section 163.3202, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the Board to adopt Land Development Code (LDC) regulations consistent with the implementation of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan.  Amendments to the LDC require two public hearings before the Board to be adopted. This is the first of the two hearings.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Approval after the second reading on June 16, 2026
