DESCRIPTION
In 2023, the County Manager requested as part of the State Legislative Priorities, $4,100,000 for Polk County Sheriff’s Office County Jail Improvements. On June 18, 2024, the County received the award for the appropriation of pass-through funding in the amount of $2,050,000 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. These funds will used to replace the Cell Doors in the Main Housing Building at the Polk County Central County Jail.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve 1) and execute grant agreement with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement from the funds in specific appropriation 1297A, in the amount of $2,050,000 in nonrecurring capital outlay funds provided to the Polk County Board of County Commissioners for the Polk Sheriff’s Office County Jail Improvements 2) CIP amendment and Budget Resolution to establish the project budget.
FISCAL IMPACT
Upon approval of the CIP Amendment and budget resolution $2,050,000.00 will be available in the Special Revenue Grant Fund in the Polk County Sheriff’s Office County Jail Improvements CIP Project.
