DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received an internal request to restrict parking along Tank Road. Tank Road is located in the Davenport area in S-24, T-25S, R-26E, and is classified as an Urban Collector road.
Staff conducted parking studies on Tank Road to analyze this request and determined that multiple vehicles are parking on the shoulders, creating visibility and maintenance issues.
Pursuant to FS 316.008, the Board of County Commissioners is vested with the authority to set parking restrictions on County roadways. Additionally, the posting of the requested restrictions will promote public safety and assist the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in their enforcement efforts.
To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the parking restrictions.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish parking restrictions for Tank Road. Estimated cost for installation of the signs is $2,321.77.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is budgeted in the FY 23/24 Transportation Millage Fund.
