DESCRIPTION
As part of the regular maintenance of Polk County’s wastewater treatment facilities, inspection and cleaning of the open tankage is required. The inspection of the tanks will measure the amount of grit and sand that has accumulated over time. If it is determined that the build up has a detrimental impact on capacity, grit removal and disposal is required to restore the tanks to their designed treatment capacity. Polk County Utilities Division has identified US Submergent Technologies, LLC as a viable provider of inspection and removal services. Their propriety sonar technology allows inspection of the tanks without the need to drain them. Their ability to inspect and clean the tanks without removing them from service is highly advantageous for the continuous operation of the wastewater treatment process.
Polk County Utilities requested Procurement piggyback the City of Orlando agreement with US Submergent. The City of Orlando solicited an Invitation for Bid (IFB 23-0211), resulting in an agreement with US Submergent Technologies, LLC for labor, equipment, materials, and necessary incidentals for tank cleaning services. There are no local vendors that provide these services.
The term of the agreement, with all extensions, is through June 10, 2028.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is available for these services within the Utilities’ operating budget.
